The work of homeless charities was our main motivation for compiling Soup Kitchen. Of everything we raise through sales of books and associated fundraising — 70% will go directly to the charities. For us it was personal — Tommi’s twin brother was diagnosed with pschyzophrenia over six years ago. He came close to living on the streets himself. As Centrepoint have affirmed a huge percentage of homeless people have problems with mental illness. Like homelessness itself, this is one of the last taboos in our society. We tend to ignore what is uncomfortable to look at. This was a way of redressing the balance in some small way. Annabel’s Dad had run a small charity since 1985 distributing food to homeless charities at Christmas, and we were keen to raise some vitally needed funds and to explore ways in which we could encourage our chefs and charities to work together in the future.

Our main benefiting charities include:

The Salvation Army and Centrepoint

We will also be donating to smaller charities whose work we passionately support.
